Food website says it’s NJ’s best outdoor restaurant

Temperatures have cooled over the past week and this has made eating outdoors even more enjoyable.

There are many restaurants in New Jersey that offer alfresco dining. Some have always included optional outdoor tables, while others have simply embraced the practice as a way to stay in business during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Most of the restaurants on the list are in towns that are well-known tourist spots. Here are some examples:

  • Quince on the farm in San Francisco, CA
  • Alpino Vino in Telluride, CO
  • Blue sky in Key West, Florida
  • Moon River Brewing Company in Savannah, Georgia
  • Dat Dog in New Orleans, LA
  • The Riverhouse in Big Sky, MT
  • Sunset Terrace in Asheville, North Carolina
  • Top TENN in Nashville, TN
  • Idletyme Brewing Company in Stowe, VT
  • Dornan’s Chuckwagon Grill in Jackson Hole, WY

Going through the list on, I started to guess which city the best outdoor restaurant in New Jersey would be located in? Could it be in Cape May? Or maybe Asbury Park? Hoboken seemed like a possible place. Princeton or Lambertville too.

Well, Lambertville was close, but according to Eat This, Not That !, you have to go about 20 minutes further north on Route 29 to find the best outdoor restaurant in New Jersey.

This restaurant is Frenchtown Inn in Frenchtown, NJ. Eat this, not that! calls it “very special”.

According to the Frenchtown Inn website, outdoor seating is available Wednesday through Sunday on the restaurant’s porch and its new outdoor lounge that overlooks the Delaware River.

Eat this, not that! recommend the “pan-seared duck, cannolis and suspension steak with truffle fries”.
